“Alea jacta est!” 😊 This bronze statue commemorates Julius Caesar, who chose Rimini as a military base and who stopped here after passing the Rubicon river, which at the time marked the boundary of the Roman Empire. In this spot, Julius Caesar gave the legendary “Alea jacta est” speech (“the die is cast: there is no turning back”) to his legionnaires marching towards Rome in 49 BC. The statue is located in the square once dedicated to Julius Caesar himself and now called “Tre Martiri”, a stone throw from Rimini’s beautifully preserved Arch of Augustus and Bridge of Tiberius. #rimini #italy #verytroubledchild #europe #travels #beautifuldestinations #juliuscaesar
